About Us Richard
Porter Richard Porter was born in Wilmington, Delaware. Wilmington produced many of the United State's most competitive ice skaters and it was there in 1962 that Richard started skating and competing for 7 years. After winning several Gold and Silver medals in competitions, Richard took a break from skating to study, gaining a degree in commercial and graphic art. In 1972, Richard returned to skating as a soloist and performed with “Ice Capades.” He then went on to perform with “Ice Follies” where he developed an ice adagio act and began training with Lucien Boyer, a world champion adagio team member. Richard spent one year in Japan performing for famed producer Barry Ashton at the New Fujiya Hotel. After returning to the United States, he headlined with “Holiday on Ice” for five years, receiving many awards and became known as the "World's Best" in adagio skating. Richard then joined Ashton/Kochman Productions as a performer as well as company manager touring Japan and Korea. It was during this intense period working with Barry Ashton and touring with a major company of performers that Richard developed his keen eye for high quality production shows, which gained him experience in staging and costuming and eventually let to his work as a producer/director. After the sudden death of Barry Ashton and the subsequent closure of his company, Richard returned to skating at the Hacienda Hotel in Las Vegas where he starred in the original “Fire and Ice” for three years. In 1984, Richard set up his own production company, which has grown into the major producer of ice and stage spectaculars in the world today. His shows have played to sellout audiences, from major casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City, Lake Tahoe and Reno (Caesars Palace, MGM, Bally's and the Desert Inn to name a few) to top entertainment venues in South Africa, Japan, Australia, Mexico, South America and Russia. Richard has been producing for Anheuser Busch, which includes Sea World and Busch Garden Parks around the United States for nearly ten years where many of his shows were voted "Number One" in their respective park. Richard's touring ice spectacular "Hollywood on Ice” completed five years touring Mexico and South America performing in sold out venues and receiving rave reviews. In Chicago, Richard’s shows have been entertaining audiences nightly for the past 10 years at the famous Drury Lane Theater. In Branson, Richard produced “Hot Country Ice” starring the Osmonds at the Osmond Family Theater as well as “Branson City Lights” at the Remington Theater of which both won “Show of the Year” awards for two consecutive years. Richard Porter and his Advanced Entertainment Group are the “Best in the Business”. With his keen sense of cutting-edge ice and stage show entertainment, his ability to select top talent and his acute business sense, Richard Porter is destined to bring exciting, high quality entertainment to applauding audiences all over the world.
